Expert Guide: Beautiful Acacia B Dubai Hills Renovation 2024

Table of Contents

I was recently contracted to re design a one bedroom apartmanet in Acacia B Dubai Hills Estate. Acacia was one of the first completed apartment blocks directly on the amazing Dubai Hills Estate Park. Of a good size, 90m+ it was however a little dated in design. My brief to make this modern, airy and with a coastal theme.

1. First Challenge

The first challenge, to look at the space available. So using some professional design software, I built the floor plan layouts of the existing spaces. I then began the process of re arranging and adding colours, of course keeping the client 100% informed of the options.

The next step was to look at effects of furniture to break the spaces, and yes, impart the perception of more space through dividers. Consciously choosing items that match the briefs of airy and coastal. Not easy in a relatively small space.

2. Next Steps

Now the practical step. Choosing colors, this is very tricky and so important to see in the real spaces on the real walls, light plays differently in each room and depending on the light. The client could physically chose which their preference but based on a scheme that met the coastal brief.

We now marked the floor, furniture not purchased yet, to show the impact in the room, and to re arrange lighting. In this case to move ceiling lights to match the new zones in the living area. Including accent lighting to walls and highlighted bespoke furniture. This delivers a very open space in the evening.

3. The Kitchen

The current design is dated and enclosed with dark cabinets. With close collaboration with the client we agree to open the space, though cabinet relocation and re surfacing. Managing to keep cost low, my secret, we have managed a transformation of this space.

3. The Bedroom

For the bedroom what it needs to be done was styling and staging the customer was looking for contemporary sophistication paired with comfortable livability. A calming base can be established using pale blue tone for walls accented with a stetement wall at the back of the bed. Add to the sumptuous feel by layering textures such as overstuffed bedding, and offwhite curtains. Incorporate natural light from expansive windows to accentuate the features of the room, and artfully positioned mirrors can also give an impression of openness. A hint of greenery in the balcony, with seasonal fresh flowers could be the right elements to enhance nature-inspired indoors for echoing Dubai Hills Estate green.
